French Translator
Job Summary:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented French Translator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for translating a variety of documents, materials, and communications from English to French and vice versa. The ideal candidate must possess strong language proficiency, cultural understanding, and a keen eye for accuracy. This role requires excellent communication skills, a commitment to meeting deadlines, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
- Translation:
- Translate written and verbal content accurately from English to French and vice versa.
- Ensure that the translated content maintains the intended meaning, style, and tone of the original.
- Proofreading and Editing:
- Review and edit translated materials for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency.
- Collaborate with other translators and team members to ensure high-quality, error-free translations.
- Cultural Understanding:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the cultural nuances and context of both source and target languages to produce culturally appropriate translations.
- Research:
- Conduct research to enhance understanding of specialized technical or industry-specific topics for accurate translation.
- Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing linguistic expertise and guidance.
- Clarify and resolve any ambiguities in the source text by consulting with the relevant stakeholders.
- Deadline Management:
- Manage and prioritize multiple translation projects to meet deadlines.
- Communicate effectively with project managers to ensure timely delivery of completed translations.
Requirements:
- Language Skills:
- Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is essential.
- Strong understanding of grammar, syntax, and vocabulary in both languages.
- Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a translator, with a portfolio of previous translation work.
- Familiarity with various translation tools and software is a plus.
