Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Service Manager to lead our client’s Service department. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, a commitment to safety, and a strategic mindset focused on continuous improvement and profitability. The Service Manager will be responsible for maintaining a “safety first” culture, fostering positive relationships with customers and vendors, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:
– Collaborate with HR to recruit, develop, and retain employees, including implementing cross-training and coaching programs.
– Communicate job expectations to employees and provide regular performance feedback.
– Develop and implement strategies to motivate and engage employees.
– Partner with HR to plan and review compensation actions, including for union employees.
– Ensure compliance with health and safety rules and policies.
– Approve biweekly hourly payroll and monitor overtime levels.
– Lead continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate projects to optimize operations.
– Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and vendors.
– Work with customers to address concerns and maintain high levels of satisfaction.
– Select and screen suppliers according to company policy.
– Recommend service pricing to achieve profitability targets.
– Participate in budget creation and forecasting, minimizing expenses while maximizing profits.
– Create and report Service department KPIs, implementing corrective actions as needed.
– Monitor market conditions and adjust strategy accordingly.
– Manage truck fleet to reduce costs.
– Oversee inventory control management, including cycle counting and maintaining optimal inventory levels.
– Review and approve purchase orders/invoices in accordance with policy.
– Stay updated on industry trends and developments.
– Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
– Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Service Manager in a service environment.
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in team management.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Proficiency with Microsoft Windows (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
– Ability to thrive in a changing work environment.
– Innovative with a passion for achieving results.
– Flexibility to work various hours, including weekends and holidays.
– Effective conflict management and team-building skills.
– High School diploma required; 5+ years of progressive management experience in Supply Chain Operations an asset.

Working Conditions:
– Office and warehouse environment.
– Regular use of a computer and other office machinery.
– Ability to lift 50 lbs.
