Bilingual Collections Specialist (12-Month Contract)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Collections Specialist for an immediate 12-month contract.
Confidentiality, discretion, and meticulous attention to detail are essential for this role. Candidates must be bilingual in French and English, both written and spoken.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily collection activities for an assigned portfolio.
- Communicate with attorneys regarding their client portfolios and accounts receivable balances.
- Make professional collection calls to clients while maintaining and enhancing customer relationships.
- Review and monitor assigned accounts daily, along with relevant collection reports.
- Implement strategies to encourage timely payments.
- Assist in identifying and processing payment receipts via various methods (wire transfer, cheque, credit card, EFT).
- Resolve client billing and payment application issues promptly to facilitate the collection of outstanding accounts receivable.
- Identify factors contributing to account delinquency and discuss them with management.
- Provide timely follow-up on payment arrangements.
- Assist in reconciling high-value and complex accounts while managing high-risk balances.
- Offer support to other members of the Finance Department as needed.
- Participate in special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bilingual in French and English (written and verbal).
- At least three years of experience in collections or accounting roles.
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Previous experience with ARCS and/or Elite 3E is preferred.
- Strong understanding of collections processes and procedures.
- Proficient mathematical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel).
- Demonstrated leadership abilities.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with tact, discretion, sound judgment, and diplomacy.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Commitment to privacy and ethical conduct while adhering to organizational policies.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a focus on accuracy and detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently within a collaborative environment.
- Capable of meeting deadlines under pressure while effectively prioritizing tasks.
- Previous experience in professional services or law firms is advantageous.
- Proven adaptability in fast-paced environments.
