Account Manager
Introduction
Our client is seeking an Account Manager for a permanent, full-time opportunity in the Greater Toronto Area.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys the relationship side of sales but also wants to understand how a business operates behind the scenes. The role combines account management, inside sales, order management, purchasing, analysis, and customer support.
The development path here is deliberate rather than rushed. You will begin by developing a strong understanding of the business, its customers, order processes, and commercial operations. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you will progressively take ownership of customer relationships and broader account responsibilities.
For someone who values both long-term stability and meaningful professional growth, this role offers an attractive balance.
Salary: $70,000 to $75,000 base salary, plus bonus and profit-sharing opportunities.
Work arrangement: Full-time, Monday to Friday, in office.
Vacancy status: This is an existing vacancy with immediate availability.
What You’ll Do
Your first stage will focus heavily on learning the operational and commercial foundation of the business. You will work closely with experienced team members while developing expertise in order management, customer requirements, pricing, purchasing, sourcing, and internal processes.
As you demonstrate proficiency, your responsibilities will expand into greater account ownership. You will build and maintain customer and supplier relationships, analyze sales and margin information, contribute to pricing decisions, and help identify opportunities within existing accounts.
This is relationship-driven account management. The emphasis is on developing trusted, long-term partnerships rather than high-volume prospecting or transactional selling.
Over time, the position may also provide opportunities to meet customers and suppliers internationally.

Manage customer inquiries, quotations, sales orders, and purchase orders.

Coordinate orders from initial request through fulfillment.

Resolve order discrepancies, customer concerns, and claims professionally.

Progress toward greater ownership of customer accounts as your business knowledge develops.
-
Contribute ideas that improve accuracy, efficiency, and internal processes.
Qualifications
-
Approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in account management, inside sales, order management, distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, or a related commercial environment.
-
Experience combining customer interaction with detailed order or operational responsibilities.
-
Strong Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with data.
-
Experience with ERP, order management, or similar business systems.
-
Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
-
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
-
Commercially minded, curious, and interested in understanding how the entire order and customer relationship fits together.
-
Comfortable learning from the ground up before taking on broader account ownership.
-
Relationship-oriented, with an interest in developing existing customers rather than focusing primarily on new-business prospecting.
-
Coachable and receptive to mentorship and feedback.
-
Able to work both independently and collaboratively.
-
Resilient and adaptable when priorities change.
-
Post-secondary education in business, supply chain, engineering, or a related discipline is an asset.

Why Work with Us
This role offers something that can be difficult to find: room to grow without sacrificing stability.
You will not be expected to arrive on day one and immediately manage everything independently. Our client believes that strong account managers first need to understand the details of the business. You will be given time to learn the operational side, develop credibility, and understand how customer, supplier, pricing, purchasing, and order decisions connect.
From there, your responsibilities can expand as you demonstrate readiness.
The growth path is meaningful, but it is also realistic. This is a smaller organization, so advancement is based on developing deeper expertise, earning greater account ownership, expanding your commercial influence, and taking on increasingly valuable responsibilities over time rather than chasing frequent title changes.
You will work with an experienced team, receive mentorship as you develop, and have the opportunity to make a visible contribution. For someone who enjoys becoming genuinely knowledgeable about their customers and business, this can be a rewarding long-term career move.
