Job Title: Information Technology Lead
Location: Brampton
The Information Technology Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the IT Department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The IT Lead will be responsible for planning, coordinating, directing, and designing Information Systems/IT-related activities, as well as providing administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the Information Systems/IT department. The individual will work closely with key decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions. The IT Lead will also assist in defining and implementing Information Systems/IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operations & Planning
- Lead IT operations, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and allocating resources.
Acquisition & Deployment
- Benchmark, analyze, and make recommendations for improving and growing the IT infrastructure and Information systems.
- Manage the financial aspects of IT, including purchasing, budgeting, and budget review.
- Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Cyber Security
- Provide security analysis and monitoring of the technology infrastructure, including WAN, LAN, and Wi-Fi networks, physical and virtual servers, applications, workstations, mobile devices, anti-virus, anti-spam systems, encryption software, file systems, and databases.
- Research and implement security best practices based on government and industry regulations and best practices.
- Install security measures and operate software to protect systems and information infrastructure, including anti-virus/anti-spam, multi-factor authentication, data encryption, and other security-related programs.
- Research and evaluate new and enhanced security systems, protocols, and policies and make recommendations.
- Oversee end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
- Monitor and investigate security concerns, breaches, and other cyber security incidents.
Operational Management
- Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, and peripherals.
- Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Oversee end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
- Direct research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts.
- Stay current with the latest technologies.
- Approve and oversee projects and project portfolio.
- Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
- Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with executives, department heads, and end-users regarding pertinent IT activities.
Position Requirements:
Formal Education & Certification
- University or College degree in computer science/technology and/or 3+ years related work experience. Master of Business Administration with technology as a core component preferred.
Knowledge & Experience
- Strong technical knowledge of Network and PC operating systems.
- Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
- Strong technical knowledge of virtualized network environment with SAN solution.
- Strong technical knowledge of Active Directory, roles, and policies.
- Extensive knowledge/experience in setting and applying best practices in cyber security.
- Extensive application support experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office [Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint], Linux, and ERP
