Bilingual HR Manager (9-12 month contract) – Hybrid in Mississauga (3 days in, 2 from home)

 

Our client is an industry leader and Machinery Manufacturer of machines and tools for sheet metal processing. They are seeking a Bilingual HR Manager to cover a medical leave contract.

 

The successful candidate will oversee the HR Department (one part-time direct report: HR and Payroll Administrator). The successful candidate will be responsible for all areas relating to Human Resources and Payroll for employees employed across Canada and ensure the company is compliant within all applicable laws.

 

In this role, you will be responsible for providing strategic and functional support to all departments, employee relations, as well as managing the benefits program and overseeing payroll for the company.

 

You will provide support to the Chief Operating Office on all human-resource-related matters, and provide guidance to all managers. Strong bilingual communication skills are required (English and French), and a valid Canadian driver's license is mandatory for travel requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Chief Operating Officer and managers on projects as required
  • Full-cycle recruiting for open positions in all departments
  • Oversee employee life cycle of all workers (hiring, onboarding, career progression, terminations)
  • Preparation of all employment-related documents for all employees. Work with legal advisors as required to ensure documents are complete and compliant;
  • Maintain all documents and procedures related to human resources and health and safety, such as Employee Handbook, organizational structure charts, onboarding checklists, etc.
  • Counsel staff on understanding and adherence to the policies;
  • Absence Management including Worker’s Compensation claims, Return to Work programs, as well as STD and LTD case management;
  • Compiling, reporting, and analysis of Human Resources information such as headcount, workplace accidents, turnover, etc. to both internal and external contacts;
  • Travel to Quebec office when required; (Valid Canadian driver's license is mandatory for travel requirements)
  • Oversee processing of full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for all departments
  • Supervise maintenance of HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce), employee benefits enrolment (Canada Life), Absence Tracking System, and all Employee Records
  • Support health and wellness of all staff
  • Participate actively in the Pension Committee
  • Provide career progression guidance to all employees
  • Conduct internal employee investigations and disciplinary action as required
  • Perform other duties as required

 

Job Requirements:

· Bilingual (French and English)

· 5 years of HR experience in total (2 years of generalist and or managerial experience)

· Strong interpersonal skills

· Effective written and verbal communication skills

· Analytical and problem-solving skills

· Independent worker

· Organized and detail-oriented, with strong time-management and prioritization skills

· Excellent knowledge of Microsoft office software including Word and Excel
